Ways to Reclaim Your Morning from Your Phone

Since leaving my high-stress law career, I have learned that the way I spend my first thirty minutes can totally affect how much peace I have for the rest of the day.

Instead of letting an algorithm tell us how to feel, It can be refreshing to lean into tactile, physical rituals that can ground us.

These are some cozy shifts that can help us protect our much needed peace 🀎

Whisking a slow bowl of matcha 🍡

There is something so ritualistic about the sound of a bamboo whisk against a ceramic bowl. Instead of scrolling through emails, Its so relaxing those first few minutes focusing on the temperature of the water and the froth of the tea.

It is a sensory anchor that wakes up my brain much more gently than a bright screen.

Visiting your Dezignated Cozy space πŸ›‹οΈ

I recently made a dedicated hobby nook that is strictly for getting cozy. If I am feeling creative, I will head there to do some easy reading, coloring or water coloring.

I love having a designated space I can go to where I know I can feel warm. It can be a corner of your room or living room.

Heck it could even just be your bed lol! But making your personal space extra cozy is what its all about.

Reading a few pages of a physical book πŸ“–

I used to think I didn't have time to read in the morning, but swapping ten minutes of scrolling for a few pages of a book has helped a lot.

Whether it is a solo adventure book or a cozy novel, holding a physical book helps my attention span reset.

Quality time with my cat πŸˆβ€β¬›

Chila usually lets me know the second I am awake that he needs attention. Instead of ignoring him to check my notifications, I try to spend a few minutes just playing or sitting with him.

It is a simple way to be present in my home and remember that the most important things in my life aren't happening on a screen.

Tending to my plants πŸͺ΄

I am still a beginner when it comes to gardening, but checking on my plants in the morning is so nourishing.

I’ll check the soil or mist the leaves while the sun is coming in. It is a tiny way to connect with nature without even having to go out.

A quick morning reset 🧹

I find it very hard to be creative in a messy space personally (I know not everyone is the same lol). I might spend five minutes doing a quick tidy of my living area or kitchen.

It isn't a "deep clean" by any means. It is just about resetting my environment so that when I finally do sit down to work, I feel calm and organized.

Simple light movement 🧘

I don't do intense morning workouts, but I love a bit of light stretching or using my gym accessories for a few minutes while listening to music.

It helps me get back into my body after a night of sleep. It is about feeling good and waking up my muscles rather than trying to be "productive."

Final Cozy Thoughts πŸ’›

We spend so much of our lives being reachable by everyone at all times. Reclaiming your morning is a way of saying that you are allowed to belong to yourself first.

You don't need to have a perfect "aesthetic" routine to find peace. You just need to choose something real over something digital.

Try leaving your phone in another room for just fifteen minutes tomorrow. I promise the internet will still be there when you get back lol.

Stay cozy!
