The "Inner Child" Play-Book: 7 Things to do Just for Fun 🧸

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much time we spend being productive, efficient, and "on." It can totally be exhausting.

Me trying to avoid the “digital brain rot” has meant leaning back into the cozy activities I love in order to experience kind of fun that doesn’t have a goal or a deadline.

These are just little things that have been bringing me back to that sense of wonder.

Watercolor workbooks 🎨

I honestly used to be intimidated by a blank canvas. But watercolor workbooks that help you through the fun? Sign me up lol.

It’s about the movement of the brush and the way the paint bleeds into the paper. It’s pure relaxation for me 🤎

Printing memories with a mini printer 📸

There is something so satisfying about the click of a mini printer.

I love taking random photos from my week and printing them out to stick into my journal. It turns digital clutter into something I can actually hold.

Building tiny worlds with Legos 🧱

There is something so meditative about watching a little plastic flower or a cozy cabin come to life.

It’s tactile, it’s colorful, and it looks so cute on a bookshelf when you’re done. I especially love the botanical sets because they are just so cute.

Swapping out keycaps ⌨️

For me, this is like playtime for the tech-loving inner child lol.

Changing the keycaps on my mechanical keyboard to a new pastel set feels like giving my desk a fresh outfit.

Also is that the sound of custom keycaps can be so satisfying.

Annotated reading 📖

Using transparent sticky tabs and highlighters to "talk back" to my books or make notes makes the reading experience so active.

For me It makes reading feel like an real, playful conversation rather than a chore.

Playing "Brain Off" games 🎮

Sometimes my inner child just wants to decorate a little digital house or mobile book store lol.

I’ve been leaning into games like Tiny Bookshop or Animal Crossing where there is really no serious "losing."

It’s just about existing in a different world for a little while.

Re-watching childhood favorites 📺

Sometimes the best way to tap into your inner-child is to let your brain rest in a familiar story.

I’ve been putting on old movies or shows like Gilmore Girls from when I was younger while I doodle or just simply watch. It feels like a warm hug for my subconscious.

Final Cozy Thoughts 💛

We spend so much of our lives trying to prove we are capable and serious. But there is so much power in being silly.

Letting your inner child come out to play isn't a distraction from your "real" life. It’s the thing that makes your real life feel worth living.

Go do something today that has absolutely no purpose other than making you smile.

Stay whimsical, Stay warm
